  SUN

The tanning process is a natural defence that protects the skin against harmful sun rays.

T
he UV rays stimulate a series of photo-biochemical reactions during which melanocytes
(cells of the basal layer of the epidermis) segregate a natural photo-protecting pigment: melanin.

W
hen reaching the cutaneous layer, some UV rays are reflected,
but they also penetrate into the deep layers of the epidermis and the dermis,
launching many biological changes that increase cutaneous deterioration.
